What is happening

Families across the country are suing Roblox, saying the platform made it easy for adult predators to find and groom children. Many suits also name Discord, because contact that started on Roblox often moved there. The cases say Roblox was built without real age checks, let adults chat with children, and let its Robux currency become a grooming tool.

In December 2025, the federal cases were brought together in one court in Northern California. By mid 2026 that group held more than 160 cases and keeps growing. California state cases were brought together in Los Angeles in April 2026. Attorneys general in Louisiana, Kentucky, Texas, and Nebraska have sued Roblox, and so has Los Angeles County. Alabama, Nevada, and West Virginia settled with Roblox in April 2026 for about 33 million dollars combined.

Roblox has asked courts to move families' cases into private arbitration, based on the fine print in its terms of use. So far, California courts have said no for child sexual abuse claims, pointing to a federal law that protects sexual assault survivors from forced arbitration. That fight is still going in the federal cases.

Roblox began requiring age checks for chat in January 2026, and now limits chat between adults and children. Those changes came after the lawsuits and government pressure started.

Who may qualify

• The person who caused harm first met your child through Roblox, even if the contact moved to Discord or another app later.
• Your child was under 18 when it started.
• The harm was in-person abuse or an attempted in-person meeting, or online sexual exploitation such as sextortion, explicit materials, or grooming through repeated messages.
• For online-only harm, your child's life was really affected: a diagnosis, counseling, treatment, or serious changes at school or home.
• Your family does not already have a lawyer for this.

The honest part about deadlines

These claims belong to young people, and the law gives minors some of the longest time limits in civil law.
